Weber-Hydraulik Rescue Equipment

Kent International Airport Fire & Rescue Service have recently acquired Weber Hydraulik’s latest single coupling hydraulic and battery operated rescue equipment to assist in the varying rescue operations encountered.

After trialling many different tools from all the leading manufacturers, it was decided that the Weber-Hydraulik equipment far excelled others for build quality & usage. We worked closely with Weber Rescue UK Ltd to decide on what equipment was needed for the specific tasks at KIA, with the training of personnel and to carry out the annual servicing.

The equipment purchased was as follows:-

E400 Compact Power Unit
Hand Pump – DPH 3215-SK
SPS 330A Combi Tool (Battery Operated)
12v Energy Packs x 2
S50 Mini Cutter
RZT 2-750 Telescopic Rescue Ram
20 metre Free standing Hose Reel (EHF20-T)

The newly introduced single coupling makes connecting and using the equipment much simpler than that of the 2 hose systems with a complete 360° rotation. This still has all the benefits of the 2 hose system with the optimised benefits of a single coupling. It can be quickly and safely operated with protective gloves, and utilising a special valve system makes it possible to couple or uncouple the rescue equipment without attending the power unit and neutralising the pump operating lever.

The introduction of a battery operated combi tool means that we are now able to carry out rescue work in more difficult locations with very litle noise, no fumes or hydraulic hose. These tools can be operated safely and quickly, and additionally they are compact and lightweight.
