Kent International Airport Fire Station as it is in 2007

In 1999 when the Airport was sold by the Royal Air Force to Wiggins plc, the Fire Station had a major revamp.

As you can see a 2 metre extension was added to the front of the station to accomodate the new appliances which were considerably larger than their older counterparts.

The inside of the station recieved some major renovation too.

Gone was the old "bunker room" and beds to make way for a Breathing Apparatus servicing room, Gymnasium, Duty Office, SAFO Office and seperate changing rooms. The old Bird Scaring Office was turned into a clothing store and the appliance bays received a lick of paint and an updated exhaust extraction system to cope with the demands of the 510bhp detroit diesel engines fitted to our Cobra Appliances. The watchroom was moved downstairs into the old "Subs Office" and a new television room and lecture room were created at the expense of the snooker table!

To the left the new Breathing Apparatus servicing room, which used to be the old Guvnors Office

To the right is the Breathing Apparaus Compressor which was installed behind a stud partition wall at the end of the B.A. Room

To the left our very well equipped gynasium, with just about everything you need to make that body beautiful.

To the right a rear view of the appiances plugged into the exhaust extraction system and snatch plugs.

Left: SAFO Paul Condon

Right: Duty Office with a couple of busy bee's, churning out yet more paperwork.

Left: What was the old Subs Office has been turned into pine heaven, generally known as the "Watchroom"

On the right is our lecture room, our very own little "college of knowledge". Stacked full of powerpoint presentations and all the modern requirements to fill up those little brain cells.

Thank you for visiting Kent International Airport Fire Station
