Farewell to Fred Costen

Crew Manager Fred Costen leaves the Airport Fire Service after 20 yrs service. He first began his career way back in an age long forgotten on 1-11-88 at Southend Airport - Essex. At the same time he was a member of the local fire brigade retained service employed to fight fires and "muck out the horses".

He came to KIA in April 1999 to finish out his career to retirement. Unfortunately this was cut short due to injury whilst carrying out secondary duties as part of his Airport Fire Service requirements.

At the end of a lengthy process this has led Fred to be unfit for operational duties within the airport environment. Shame!

Fred to his amazement has been loved by all and will be missed. His cheery attitude to life, ability to bark orders across the fire station forecourt and experiences have benefited all that he has had contact with.

Cheerio Sergeant Major take care and keep in touch.
